CALLED IT: Thoughts About ESPN

Back in June, I suggested ESPN should create a channel for women called E!SPN. It’d be a mix of the sports that women love with the gossip that line grocery checkout lines that women won’t admit that they love.

Turns out, I wasn’t too far off. USA Today is reporting that ESPN is making a spinoff channel for women called espnW.

Not bad, Management, not bad. Looks like making a website dedicated to predicting such trends was the right idea, after all.

thoughtsaboutthoughts:

I like to watch ESPN. Most men do. Most women don’t. Conversely, women like to watch E!. Most men don’t.

So to better bridge this gap, I think ESPN should have a channel dedicated for women and women sports. It doesn’t have to be The Ocho, it can be E!SPN, or something. The channel would have WNBA games, NCAA softball games, Ladies’ Billiards, etc.

But also on top of that, it would have reality shows full of the kind of drama that women like so much. It’d be something like Keeping Up With The Kardashians except it’s the Williams sisters or something.

Think about it. I think you’ll like it no matter your gender.
